About Rob Tufano…
Rob Tufano is the founder of Tufano Media. He’s an international law enforcement communications strategist who advises major city police departments on three continents.
Rob professionally develops executive members of police departments to maximize integrity, accountability, and transparency when communicating to the community through conventional and social media.
Rob spent more than a decade as a New York City Police Officer working in the shadows of “Hell’s Kitchen” at the inception of the country’s crack cocaine epidemic before starting a career in television news. He is an award-winning television news crime reporter who worked for ABC and CBC news affiliates
Rob participated in President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing and was invited to the White House to discuss the topic of how police and media relations impact the community.
Rob served as the Communications Director for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, he is currently the Public Safety Communications Director for the City of Charlotte.
Rob is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute of Police and an instructor for the Southern Police Institute in Louisville Kentucky.

Title: A community without police
Description: Major City Police Departments across the country cannot recruit and retain police officers because of the public relations hit the profession has taken over the last several years. Currently, you cannot give this job away, Police officer shortage is at an epidemic and will continue to get worse unless we as a society decide on what realistic expectations are of the men and women charged with keeping us safe.
What do you want people to learn from your talk? The issue impacts all of our personal safety, especially those most vulnerable in the African-American community. Members of the African-American community are statistically victimized more by crime than any other group in our community.
What action items do you want people to take away from your talk? We wield an enormous amount of influence in the way that we as a society are policed.

What does your happy place look like? Knowing I impacted someone.
What is one thing that you would like to share that is unknown about you? Grew up dirt poor, with a single mom on government assistance. I had to scratch and claw for the little bit of success that I have achieved.
Where do you see Charlotte in 5 years? Positively positioned on the map as an area rife with thought leaders.
