About Katie Churchman…
Inspired by a background in acting and writing, Katie is passionate about the power of storytelling and how we can use it in our everyday lives to consciously create the lives that we want to lead.
Katie is a coach and facilitator at 4D Human Being, an international communications skills and leadership development company, helping people to ‘consciously create the impact they choose.’ Katie travels all over the world, leading and facilitating professional and personal development programs, experiential workshops and impactful speaking sessions, working extensively with large multinationals. She is a powerful advocate of Organizational Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC), where one’s focus shifts to the relationship with the group, team or system. This approach creates sustainable and resilient teams and families and helps to build work environments that support complex human interactions, embrace conflict and adapt quickly to change whilst still remaining productive and profitable.
Through her work with leaders, teams and with Early In Career (EICs) delegates, Katie empowers people to take charge of their own life narrative both personally and professionally, individually and collectively. Katie is results-driven, energetic and enjoys working with a fun and informal approach. By coaching and training in a relatable, accessible and playful way, she ensures that her diverse range of clients leave in a much more present, creative and connected state.
Katie moved from London to Charlotte in the summer of 2018 with her husband Dan and has fallen in love with this vibrant, friendly city. She loves hiking Crowders Mountain, spending time at the Whitewater Centre and is fortunate to live right by her favorite brewery: Wooden Robot! Also a qualified yoga teacher, Katie specializes in integrating the physical practice of yoga with everyday life and runs regular classes here in Charlotte.

Title: “So, What do you do?”
Description: We often wait for our lives to happen in order to tell the story, but actually, the stories we tell ourselves create our lives. Don’t underestimate that little question: what do you do? Because of the way you answer it will be writing the next chapter in the story of your life.
What do you want people to learn from your talk? We are not human doings…we are human beings, and who we are is so much more than what’s written on our business cards. Don’t throw away your next answer to that question: because the words that fall out of your mouth are writing the next chapter of the story of your life.
What action items do you want people to take away from your talk? Instead of struggling to find the perfect answer that encompasses everything you do, think about this: who do you want to be? Shift your attention towards how you want to be in the world and let that inform your answer to the “what do you do” question.
Learn more about Katie…
Where is your hometown? A small town called Letchworth (The World’s First Garden City) slightly North of London (England!)
What are your hobbies? It’s so hard to pick one as my hobbies vary depending on the season and City I’m in! Charlotte’s specific hobbies include: singing with Carolina Voices, road cycling with Inside-Out Sports and teaching and practicing yoga. My husband and I also love skiing and have been taking advantage of North America’s amazing mountains this winter.
What are you passionate about? I’m passionate about traveling the globe and learning about different cultures. The more I step out of my ‘box’ the more I seem to learn about myself. Thanks to a variety of work and volunteering opportunities I’ve been fortunate to spend extended periods of time in India, Cambodia, China, and the Philippines.
What draws you to Charlotte? It’s a city with a small-town feel, balancing the best of both worlds: city-size entertainment and events paired with a strong sense of community.
What is the best compliment you’ve received? “You make me the best version of me.”
What do you want to be remembered for? Being kind.
How do you push the boundaries? By changing the story I’m telling myself.
What does your happy place look like? I love driving to the NC mountains and spending time in nature. Half a day of hiking along the Appalachian trail followed by a trip to a winery would be a dream day. It’s what I like to call a ‘hybrid holiday.’
What is one thing that you would like to share that is unknown about you? I quit a Vipassana Retreat (a 10-day silent meditation retreat) after 26 hours.
Where do you see Charlotte in 5 years? With even more breweries, an extended light rail and hopefully with a Super Bowl win for the Panthers!
The most important questions…
What animal will be our future overlords? If we’re talking about Charlotte, then it’s definitely going to be dogs!
