TEDxCharlotte Speaker Audition Application
This is an application to audition our 2020 TEDxCharlotte event. The deadline to apply is midnight on August 30, 2019.
TWO REALLY HELPFUL TIPS:
1) Please read the Auditions page (http://tedxcharlotte.com/audition/) before filling out your application. It will help. If after you read that page, you have any questions, please ask us at email@example.com.
2) SAVE YOUR APPLICATION. Sometimes computers mess up and your application doesn’t go through. To avoid doing all that work twice. Please save your answers. You can also get a document version of the questions at tedxcharlotte.org/application
Please keep in mind!
We are focused on creating a locally organized and sourced event. All of our volunteer organizers are part of the Charlotte community and we use only local vendors. On that note, we are ONLY looking for local Charlotte-area speakers. We want to elevate the voices of our local community to inspire each other.
Additionally, logistically, our speaker coaching is 8 weeks long and your attendance is *required* in order to make it to the final audition two weeks before the event.
Once again! We only accept speaker applications if you are in the Charlotte-area.
TEDxCharlotte is committed to being a local event. We want to elevate the ideas of our local community. For that reason, we don’t bring in speakers and are looking for local ideas for our stage. While we know that some TEDx events like to bring speakers in from outside their community, we are committed to sourcing our speakers from the Charlotte-area.
**** IF YOU DO NOT LIVE OR WORK IN THE CHARLOTTE METRO AREA, WE WILL NOT CONSIDER YOUR APPLICATION. OUR PROCESS AND TIME COMMITMENT DOES NOT WORK FOR OUT OF TOWN SPEAKERS. *****
Do you live or work in the Charlotte-metro area?
Getting to know you
Tell us about yourself?
What subjects/topics are you passionate about or are an expert in?
Why do you want to give a talk?
Why do you deserve time on the stage?
Are there any previous videos of talks you’ve given on stage? If so, please provide us with a link.
What unique point of view do you bring?
Let’s talk about your idea.
What is your idea worth sharing? Keep in mind TED Talks are not an opportunity to promote your work but an IDEA that is worth sharing.
Now that you’ve written a paragraph on your idea, take it and condense it into one sentence.
What is one word to describe your speaking style?
We’d love to get to know you better.
Please include a link to a SHORT introduction video. No more than 4 minutes, please.
VERY IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS: If you don’t have one ready now, you can email the LINK to firstname.lastname@example.org. DO NOT SEND an attached video file, IT WILL NOT BE REVIEWED. POST YOUR VIDEO ONLINE AND SEND THE LINK.
